NTS regular Smerz has been hosting a show since 8 December 2016. Smerz has been a regular guest on The Early Bird Show, first appearing on 8 October 2024 and most recently on 27 May 2025. Smerz has been played over 240 times on NTS, first on 19 March 2016. Smerz's music has been featured on 206 episodes.

Smerz is a Norwegian electronic music duo based in Copenhagen, Denmark. The two members, Catharina Stoltenberg and Henriette Motzfeldt, met at the University of Copenhagen and subsequently dropped out of school to pursue music.

Stoltenberg and Motzfeldt have cited DJ Rashad and Rihanna as influences, as well as the television series Girls.

Smerz signed to XL Recordings in 2017. Two EPs have been released so far: Okey (2016) and Have fun (2018).
