DJ Dano

DJ Dano has been played on NTS shows including Spinee, with Something Bigger first played on 10 May 2016.

DJ Dano, born Daniel Leeflang on January 29, 1970, is a Dutch DJ and music producer known for his contributions to the hardcore and electronic dance music scene. He began his career in 1984, DJing for local pirate radio stations in Amsterdam. In 1986, he worked as a journalist for a youth newspaper, writing about music and nightlife. His interest in electronic dance music was sparked after visiting the Roxy discotheque, where he was introduced to the emerging acid house scene. Following this experience, he hosted a radio show called Acid Explosion and became a resident DJ at the Mazzo club.

In 1992, the Dutch dance scene expanded significantly, and Leeflang performed at a large-scale house party in Utrecht alongside Buzz Fuzz, Gizmo, and The Prophet. This event marked the formation of The Dreamteam, a DJ collective that played a significant role in the rise of the hardcore music movement.

Throughout the 1990s and early 2000s, Dano performed at major dance events, including Hellraiser, Thunderdome, Mayday, and Love Parade. He also toured internationally, with a notable tour in Australia alongside The Dreamteam. In addition to his DJ career, he produced tracks for labels such as Mokum, ID&T, and Dreamteam Productions. He also created remixes, including a version of T-1000 by Fear Factory, and collaborated with musician Herman Brood before Brood's passing in 2001.

Dano has also explored other electronic music styles, producing acid house tracks with Dylan Hermelijn for Lower East Side Records and releasing records on his own label, TPF. He has collaborated with artists such as K.D. Smith and contributed to techno releases for Q-Dance and IST. With the launch of Detox Records, a sublabel of Mokum Records, he continued producing music in various electronic genres.

Despite facing personal challenges, Leeflang has remained active in the hardcore scene and continues to perform for newer generations of electronic music fans.
