Nazaré Pereira has been played on NTS shows including Radio Jiro, with Forro No Escuro first played on 12 August 2016.

Nazaré was born in Xapuri, in the state of Acre, on the border of Peru and Bolivia. In April 1978 she made her first single, 'O chero da Carolina', which was an immediate hit, followed by her first LP, 'Nazaré' and in 1979 the album 'Amazonia'. In 1980, she released her third album 'Natureza', including the song 'Amarelinha--La Marella' which became a hit.
