There are several artists under the name "Atone".
One is Andy Fitzgerald who has been making electronic dub music using this moniker since 1993. Another is a sludge metal band from Oakland, CA. A third is Antoine Monzonis-Calvert, and a fourth is Mexican DJ/producer Alain Jasso Martinez. In 2025 a new Portuguese Doom Metal band - also named Atone - released their debut album.

Atone from Oakland, CA is a sludge/doom four-piece featuring members of Body Void and Swamp Witch formed in 2017. They released their first self-titled recording in 2018.
Antoine Monzonis-Calvet (based in the country near Angers - France) has been an active member of the electronic / experimental / post-rock French music scene for almost ten years. This multi-instrumentalist has regularly been releasing his work over the past few years - with the different bands he’s in or through his own solo projects.
Atone is one of those solo adventures: in fact, it is his most personal one. In spring 2004, Antoine Monzonis-Calvet released Un Jour EP (« A Day EP ») on Autres Directions In Music, 5 tracks that meant a lot and got critical acclaim. A year later, the track ’Qobac Sine’ (from Un Jour EP) was re-released on Various Artists - Cottage Industries 4, Meadow by the English label Neo Ouija. The smart music of Atone was here associated with that of today’s most interesting upcomers in electronic ambient music (Julien Neto, Praveen, Xela ,Cepia, Maps + Diagrams…).
Un An LP (« A Year LP ») was written over a year, each track being closely related to an event in the life of its creator. This utterly mastered first album is built around a unique frame, where the acoustics of an accordeon, of a voice, of a piano or of drums, are combined with pulses & textures of chiselled sounds. Above all, the melodica is the backbone of Un An LP. Atone’s world constantly refers to itself, conveying the image of an indestructible unity, of a singular & unique whole. Imposing, harmonious. However, its evocative perfume carries us, as the music goes by… Like an immense and majestic river.

Alain Jasso Martinez is from Mexico City. He has had residencies in various club in the city since 1999, and has been producing his own tracks since 2002. He also has a weekly radio show that airs in Brazil and Argentina.
