“I always wanted a soundtrack for everyday life — for every moment, every situation I’m in. This soundtrack is for those moments — where sound replaces words, where rhythm becomes direction, where music is the only constant.”

Filipe Felizardo

Filipe Felizardo

Filipe Felizardo has been played on NTS shows including Unsound 2016, with Frog Princess Choir Pt.1 first played on 23 October 2016.

After forming the psychedelic guitar duo Häsqvarna in 2009, he made his first foray into solo guitar works with two self-released albums, Övöo, in 2010, and “lII = 207.8º, bII = 56.3º”, in 2011. After these explorations in drone pieces with guitar and effects, he has gone back to solo guitar and valve amplifiers.

Pursuing and inquiring upon the fingerpicking tradition, his recent works for guitar are improvised compositions with a feel for pathos in the whole harmonic range of the string, and sheer monumentality in sparseness and tone.

These studies take form in his upcoming record on Clean Feed’s sublabel, Shhpuma Records. “Guitar Soli for the Moa and the Frog” was released in April 2012.

He is a regular collaborator with guitarist Bruno Silva in Bandeira Branca, with whom he released the album “Guitars for WHITE NOISE”, and with Gabriel Ferrandini and Pedro Sousa he forms ACRE. Recently, he has also collaborated live with Pão, Hernâni Faustino, and David Maranha.
