1) Watchtower is an American progressive metal band from Austin, Texas, originally active between 1982 and 1993. The band has reunited periodically since 1999. Watchtower has released two studio albums, "Energetic Disassembly" (1985) and "Control and Resistance" (1989), along with one compilation album, four digital singles, one EP, and three demo cassettes. They have also contributed to various compilation albums.

The group is known for its complex musical style, drawing influence from progressive rock and the new wave of British heavy metal. Watchtower is frequently cited, along with Voivod and Coroner, as a pioneer of the technical thrash metal or progressive thrash metal subgenre, which blends intricate musical structures with the speed and aggression of thrash metal.

Vocalist Jason McMaster appeared on the band's debut album "Energetic Disassembly" before departing to form Dangerous Toys. He was replaced by Alan Tecchio, who performed on the second album "Control and Resistance" as well as the 2016 EP "Concepts of Math: Book One". McMaster left the band again in 2010 but returned in 2023.

Watchtower's work has influenced a number of later metal bands, including Testament, Dream Theater, Death, Annihilator, Coroner, Atheist, Pestilence, Cynic, Symphony X, Devin Townsend, Toxik, Sieges Even, and Spiral Architect.

2) Heavy stoner/doom band from Melbourne, Australia. https://www.facebook.com/watchtoweroz/ https://watchtowerwatchtower.bandcamp.com/
