Mondkopf

On 8 April 2015, Mondkopf was a guest on SHAPE+. Mondkopf has been played over 10 times on NTS, first on 2 June 2015. Mondkopf's music has been featured on 12 episodes.

Mondkopf (literally "moonhead" in German) is the alias of Frenchman Paul Régimbeau who was born in Toulouse. He is an electronic producer and remix artist whose name may already be familiar to many as a member of the Fluokids family. Their hugely influential blog and label have become a well-respected stamp of approval for new cutting edge artists.

He gained a cult following on the electronic music scene thanks to his thrilling remixes of The Golden Filter, The Teenagers, Grand National, Pony Pony Run Run and even Johnny Cash.

Having developed his own exciting sound, Mondkopf draws inspiration from experimental electronica pioneers such as Brian Eno and Vangelis, as well as innovative American Hip-Hop artists like Timbaland and J Dilla.

Mondkopf breaks away from other French dance acts to create his own exciting instrumental blend of deep rhythms and soulful melodies. His crunchy beats and complex orchestrations have won him comparisons to the likes of Apparat, Modeselektor and Kevin Shields.

In 2014, his fourth album Hadès, released under In Paradisum, represents a new start: Mondkopf distances himself from pure techno in order to experiment sounds on « the most goth and doom side of the industrial scene » (according to a French journalist from Tsugi).

As he describes it himself, his musical approach follows a cathartic and redeeming logic, in a mental environment that is tinted with mysticism.

He continues to perform live on various occasions, among which was a unique collaboration with Charlemagne Palestine for the 2015 edition of the Sonic Protest festival. In February 2016, on In Paradisum, he released the EP The Last Tales, that he elaborated during the Hadès tour. He is currently working on several projects, either solo (Extreme Precautions) or involving other artists in the entourage of In Paradisum (Autrenoir, FOUDRE, Spero Lucem).
