Nifelheim

Nifelheim has been played on NTS in shows including A Fist in the Face of God presents: Midnite Madness, featured first on 14 October 2014. Songs played include Infernal Flame Of Destruction, Possessed By Evil and Evil Is Eternal.

Nifelheim is a Swedish black metal band formed in 1990 in Dals Långed by Hellbutcher (vocals), Tyrant (bass/guitar), and Demon (drums). Guitarist Morbid Slaughter later joined the lineup. The band made its first recording around the end of 1992 or beginning of 1993, releasing the "Unholy Death Demo," which drew attention within the underground metal community and received favorable reviews for its raw style reminiscent of early Venom, Hellhammer, Bathory, and Mayhem.

Following this early success, Nifelheim signed with Necropolis Records. In 1994, after the departure of Morbid Slaughter, the band recorded their self-titled debut album at Studio Fredman. Guest guitarists on the album included John Zwetsloot and Jon Nödtveidt of Dissection. The album gained attention in the underground scene and contributed to the band's growing reputation.

In 1996, Nifelheim contributed a Vulcano cover to the "Headbangers Against Disco" 7" series, featuring Goat (formerly of Satanized) on vocals. That same year, the band also appeared on the soundtrack for the film Gummo, released by Polygram/London Records.

Their second album, "The Devil's Force," was recorded in 1997 and again featured contributions from Zwetsloot and Nödtveidt. It continued in the band's aggressive black metal style and received positive international reviews.

By the time they began work on their third album, Nifelheim had parted ways with Necropolis Records, seeking a new label better suited to their ambitions. In March 2000, they entered the studio to record "Servants of Darkness," which was released through Black Sun Records.

In May 2001, Nifelheim completed a full live lineup and performed for the first time at the 2heavy4you festival in Sweden. Since then, the band has played several concerts across Europe, continuing to promote their intense brand of black metal.
