Pogo

Pogo has been played on NTS in shows including Astral Garden w/ Nailah Hunter, featured first on 25 March 2017. Songs played include Kadinchey (Breezewax Remix), Tunnels and Alice.

Pogo, real name Nick Bertke, is an electronic musician from Perth, Western Australia. Since 2007, Pogo has been taking sounds from films and specific film scenes and sequencing them to form completely new musical pieces, a genre also known as plunderphonics, but there are multiple genre influences in his music. A number of Pogo's works consist almost entirely of the sounds he samples, with few or no additional music or sound samples.

To date, Bertke has produced tracks from such films as Alice in Wonderland, Up, Mary Poppins, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, The Sword in the Stone, Terminator 2: Judgment Day, and Toy Story. All of these tracks, as well as many others, have been released with an accompanying music video via Pogo's official Youtube channel.

Because of the nature of Bertke's songwriting methods, he has been involved in legal issues with various film companies. When Pogo released his track "Bangarang," featuring footage and sound samples from Steven Spielberg's film Hook, the video was removed from YouTube following complaints made by Sony Pictures Entertainment, but was later allowed back online. Similar complaints later came from Walt Disney Motion Picture Studios, resulting in Bertke being forced to list the videos featuring audio and visuals from Disney films on his Youtube channel to be listed as "private". After a year-long contract of producing professionally for Disney, Disney allowed Bertke's Disney mixes are back online.

As of late, Bertke appears to have pivoted to focusing on photography/film primarily, as opposed to music. He appears to be loosely associated with the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Perth, having done video work for them and also appearing in a video about their creative ministries.
