Jon Brooks has been played on NTS over 10 times, featured on 15 episodes and was first played on 2 April 2017.

Cate Brooks, (formally known as Jon Brooks, The Advisory Circle, King of Woolworths and for her music under the Café Kaput moniker/label amongst other alter-egos) releases music that often reflects the hauntological electronic soundtracks of the Public Information Films and Programmes for Schools and Colleges of British 70s TV, and has a life-long love and association with library music and conceptual ambient work. Her work in its many guises has been a backbone to several labels that share a sympathy with her aesthetics, such as Ghost Box and Clay Pipe.

Cate Brooks also formed part of the band The Pattern Forms (in collaboration with Ed Macfarlane and Edd Gibson of Friendly Fires), adding shoegaze to her repetoire of styles.

An extensive feature in The Wire magazine explored Brooks' fascination with public information films from the 1970s. They describe her sound as "Everything's fine, but there is something not quite right about it."
