Justis Brokenrope (Sičháŋǧu Lakȟóta) is a musician and educator currently residing in Bdé Óta Othúŋwe, Mní Sóta (Minneapolis, Minnesota). Wathéča Radio is an offshoot of Wathéča Records, a label and archival project focused on North American indigenous artists who were often overlooked in the canons of rock, folk, and country music. Brokenrope hosts his radio shows completely in Dakhóta, the eastern dialect of the Očhéthi Šakówiŋ (the seven Lakota and Dakota tribal nations), and the original language of the land he presently resides on. Jennifer Lara recorded at Coxsone Dodd's famed Studio One studio for most of her career and released her own album in the 70s entitled 'Studio One Presents Jennifer Lara' (pictured left).

It is reported that her last song - 'Ordinary People' (a duet with Dalton Browne) - was recorded at Studio One just two weeks ago and she toured recently as a backing vocalist with The Ethiopians.

During her over 35 year association with the studio, Jennifer Lara added backing vocals to the songs of some of the camp's biggest names, including Delroy Wilson, Freddie Mcgregor, Dennis Brown and Sugar Minott.

Musicologist Bunny Goodison described Ms. Lara as Studio One's "resident harmonist". He added: "She was a very likeable person, got on with everyone."

Jennifer Lara, who was aged 52 when she died, is survived by her two children, Ika and Cheka.
