Spacek

Spacek

Spacek has been played on NTS over 80 times, featured on 80 episodes and was first played on 7 April 2013.

Spacek are often considered to be the definitive example of the blurred line between trip-hop and R&B. The band consists of Steve Spacek (bassist, vocalist, and head songwriter), guitarist Edmund Cavill, and former MC Morgan Zarate on drums.

Working out of Steve Spacek's own Clapham studio, the group started to cause quite a stir amongst DJs during the latter half of 1999, when a white label of their first single, "Eve", made the rounds. It became obvious that the their desire to bring soul music and R&B up to date would be fulfilled.

Curvatia, their brilliant debut full-length record, was released in 2001, drawing comparisons to a number of artists, including Massive Attack.

Vintage Hi-Tech, their second effort, was released in 2003, with highlights including "Motion Control" and "I Know".
