Yam Who?

Yam Who? has been played over 20 times on NTS, first on 20 July 2013. Yam Who?'s music has been featured on 22 episodes.

Yam Who? is the studio and DJ alias for two individuals with a shared, eclectic and passionate interest in soulful music of all genres. A chance meeting in the mid nineties at a now abandoned London club started a musical conversation which has ultimately grown from us being DJ's, record collectors and 'part time' musicians (and a few other things in-between) to a fully formed production outfit. Since then they have had the privilege to work with some of the best labels and artists on the underground and commercial black music scene across a variety of musical styles encompassing Jazz, Soul, Hip Hop, House, RnB and Broken Beat. They also collaborate with talented and respected musicians, bringing a live aspect to their productions, this sets the tone for the Yam Who? sound and the way in which they work. Right now they are busy in the studio working on our own material as well as re-mixing for some new and exciting artists. Since they started out they've had a lot of encouragement from like minded people in the industry and the general public.

To date they have worked with a glorious array of fellow musicians including Joss Stone, Raphael Saadiq, Incognito, Azymuth, Chaz Jankel amongst others. They have recorded for many labels including Ubiquity, Electric Minds, Papa and Here And Now Recordings alongside everyone from Domu to DJ Spinna to Kirk Degiorgio.

Standout tracks are undoubtedly the Chanan Hanspal It's Only Just A Garden - Yam Who? Rework , the Arthur Russell cover Wax The Van for Electric Minds and the China Burton cover You Don't Care About Our Love for Here And Now Recordings.

Recently Yam Who? set up their own imprint Ism Records. Look out for releases on that label!
