Dokkebi Q

Dokkebi Q

Dokkebi Q has been played on NTS shows including Meuko! Meuko!, with Dalston Imperfection first played on 21 August 2017.

Dokkebi Q are an electro dub punk group formed at the later end of 2006 by visual artist and voice performer Kiki Hitomi and electronic bass conductor Gorgonn. While living in the inspirational place Dalston, East London, they found a mutual appreciation and understanding for 'black rebel music' which has formed the basis of the Dokkebi Q sound. With gorgonn's attacking DSP mashed and hybridized together with Kiki's bewitchingly smoky and dreamlike vocals, Dokkebi Q bring forth their own 'roots' from the indigenous Ainu tribe, Japan, Korea and the UK. In 2007 they released their debut EP, Questions, followed in 2008 by the self-titled EP, Dokkebi Q for online download (and saw a limited physical release as a promo for their 2008 Japanese tour). Finally in 2010 the duo released their first full length album Hardcore Cherry Bon Bon on the 3QREQ label.

"Dokkebi" is a mythical being taken from Korean folklore, mischievous in nature and with the power to wield and travel in the form of fire. They are the judgement of nature born of society's hunger for manufactured commodities. In the form of their street style pop songs Dokkebi Q bring the real world illumination of the beast to the human race. Fire!!!!

Alongside Dokkebi Q, Kiki Hitomi has also collaborated with renouned experimental musician and producer Kevin Martin in three of his current projects, namely The Bug, King Midas Sound and Black Chow.
