Steve Hewitt

Steve Hewitt

Steve Hewitt has been played on NTS shows including Music For Days Like These w/ John Talabot, with Northern Echo first played on 16 February 2018.

Steve Hewitt (born 22 March 1971) was the drummer for the band Placebo between mid-1996 and October 2007. He was born in Northwich, Cheshire, England. Prior to joining Placebo, Hewitt was a member of various bands such as Electric Crayons, K-Klass, The Mystic Deckchairs, Boo Radleys and Breed. He also worked as a session musician.[citation needed]

He met band member Brian Molko through his then-girlfriend. Although he appeared on some early demo tapes for Placebo, he wasn't able to join the band at first due to prior commitments to Breed. Placebo then earned their record deal with replacement drummer Robert Schultzberg. Later, as Breed broke up, Schultzberg was departing from Placebo so Hewitt accepted the invitation to join Placebo permanently.

Hewitt departed from Placebo on October 1 2007 due to "personal and musical differences", as quoted on the official Placebo website.

Steve Hewitt now fronts a new band called Love Amongst Ruin. Their self-titled debut album is released on 6 September 2010 with a tour due in October 2010. Ahead of this, Love Amongst Ruin are playing Scala London on 9 June 2010.
