Polynation

Polynation has been played on NTS in shows including Dark Sky, featured first on 17 April 2018. Songs played include Why You Pt II.

Polynation is an electronic music formation that originated from the minds of Stijn Hosman and Hessel Stuut while exploring a common creative ground. Fusing moods of electronica with techno, ambient and even jazz, Polynation is foremost an exciting live-act that seeks out to start a musical conversation based on spontaneous interaction and improvisation. The dialogue between the long-haired duo can start out as an organic composition, slowly moving towards free improvisations that are bound to lose the natural rigidity of pre-defined circumstances. Combining different styles and incorporating both electronic and acoustic sounds to create a lush musical canvas, they are a duo that’s hard to pinpoint but always seem to follow their consistent vision on contemporary music. On stage there is always something going on or being played. The chance of failure is omnipresent and the lines between live playing and complex layers of loops organically entwine to become a single experience for the open-minded dancer. Acoustic noises and intricate synth sounds collage and blend with their collected inspirations to create shifting colours and mesmerising textures. Starting out as two musicians with an irresistible chemistry, they continue to let their community grow and invite other like-minded artists to join their musical journey to explore uncharted musical territories.
