David Williams is a classically trained film composer and conductor as well as having studies in jazz composition and arranging. Born in Macomb, Illinois; raised in St. Louis, Missouri, David graduated from Southwest Missouri State University with studies in composition, orchestration and performance on classical guitar. He did post-graduate work at North Texas University mastering in Jazz composition and arranging. David was also awarded the opportunity to study with Oscar winning composer John Corigliano (ALTERED STATES, THE RED VIOLIN). He is a member of ASCAP, SCL and AFM-Local 47 in Los Angeles.
David's love of Jazz, of performing, living and breathing his art as a working musician in various ensembles, supported him in his early years. Although an accomplished pianist and guitarist, his strength lies in composing, and he began his film scoring journey on short films, documentaries, and commercials before his feature film career took off.
David's themes are sweeping and melodic and he brings his musical sensitivity to a film's unique needs. His music becomes as vital to telling the story as the characters.
Some of David's feature film scores include the MGM's SUPERNOVA working with Francis Ford Coppola, Miramax's PHANTOMS, and the cult favorites THE PROPHECY and its sequels. His television movie credits include A&E's BENEDICT ARNOLD, Fox's A GLIMPSE OF HELL, and ABC Family's FALLEN, all directed by two-time Academy Award nominee and multi Emmy winner Mikael Salomon (BAND OF BROTHERS). Other films include NBC's L.A. LAW: THE MOVIE and SciFi Channel's MANTICORE. David's current work includes the indie arthouse feature PLANET IBSEN and the thriller THE CONJURING from director Ryan Mckinney.
David has released a solo piano album titled "opal" which he wrote, performed and produced. He is currently writing a solo guitar work for the much acclaimed young classical guitarist Ana Vidovic. Also, writing a guitar and ochestra piece for Eve Fampas.
