Drum Island is Torbjørn Brundtland (Röyksopp), Svein Berge (Röyksopp), Ole Johan Mjøs, and Rune Lindbæk. Their only release is a self-titled album released in 1997, along with 2 singles. After their self-titled album released on November 17th, 1997, three members of the group (Torbjørn Brundtland, Svein Berge, and Ole Johan Mjøs), along with disk-jockey Bjørn Torske would perform live as a quartet throughout mid-1998 to mid-1999. Throughout Drum Island's entire live period, Brundtland and Berge performed various tracks which remain live-exclusive to this particular era and never saw a formal release ("Den Evige Same" / "Days" and "Warriors" / "Silent Warriors") and introduced more reworked versions of their self-titled album's tracks over time.
Bassist Ole Vegard Skauge joined the group in August 1998, and the quartet would perform as a quintet until Ole Johan Mjøs retired from music in May 1999; Brundtland, Berge, Torske, and Skauge played together until the "Drum Island" monicker was finally retired after February 2000, and the two remaining original members of Drum Island (being Torbjørn Brundtland and Svein Berge) would metamorphose into the Norwegian electronica duo Röyksopp.
