Zelma Davis

Zelma Davis

Zelma Davis has been played on NTS in shows including Shanghai, featured first on 19 May 2018. Songs played include Live Happy and Just A Touch Of Love (Everyday).

Zelma Davis (born August 2, 1970) is a Liberian-born American singer-songwriter. She is primarily known for her number-one dance hits "Things That Make You Go Hmmm…" and "Just a Touch of Love" with C+C Music Factory. She has won four American Music Awards, five Billboard Music Awards, two MTV Video Music Awards, and a Grammy Award nominations with the group.

Davis's affiliation with Clivillés & Cole began in 1989, when they hired her, Martha Wash (Vocalist) and Freedom Williams (MC) to provide vocals on multiple tracks for their first album, Gonna Make You Sweat. In 1990, the album peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 album chart, No. 11 on the R&B album chart, and was certified five times platinum.

All four singles from their debut album reached No. 1 on Billboard's Dance/Club Play chart and crossed over to the Hot 100 and R&B charts. The first single, "Gonna Make You Sweat," reached #1 on Billboard's Hot 100, #1 on the R&B Singles charts, and #3 in the UK Official Charts. The fourth and final single from their debut album, "Just a Touch of Love," featured in the movie Sister Act. The album contained two more Top 5 singles; "Here We Go (Let's Rock & Roll)," which reached #3 on Billboard's Hot 100 chart (#20 in the UK), and "Things That Make You Go Hmmm" (inspired by a phrase uttered periodically by late-night talk show host, Arsenio Hall), which reached #4 in both the U.S. and the UK.
