The Pattern Forms has been played on NTS in shows including Loose Bones, featured first on 19 March 2015. Songs played include The Sacrifice and Black rain.

The Pattern Forms is a collaboration between Jon Brooks (The Advisory Circle, King of Woolworths, Café Kaput) with Ed Macfarlane and Edd Gibson of Friendly Fires.

They released their debut single, number 3 in Ghost Box's "Other Voices" series, in February 2015.

Their debut album, Peel Away The Ivy was released on Ghost Box in October 2016.
