ilikedog_face prefers the underscores for filing purposes in her computer. She started as an idea when observing a few teenage kids surrounding a young girl destroying a slinky, (cheering roars) “DESTROY…THA…SLINKY….DESTROY”. (Whistles and more cheers). She went back home to chat online with a friend. She felt bizarre about the event at the mall. They talked about it. Then they shifted to pigs having friends… Mark Anderson being in a band, siting on a bar stool drinking some whiskey while taping his cowboy boots….then naming a band….face….no…dog face….no i like dog face…she felt excited to collaborate. They decided on the name, ‘i like dog face’. Of course later on she decides to add the underscores. She started sending emails with material. Bubbly drones, washes, soft echoes, howling, sirens, sea water noise, soft whispers, child-like voice, the dark sparkling eternity space between the stars seen on a puddle's reflection. There is a personal narrative structure as part of the aesthetic of the pieces. Her voice is distant,eire and tiny. He didn’t know the project was real other than a fabrication online. He didn’t want to disappoint so he avoided her. She noticed a distance and decided to take it swirling solo without a band mate and let him know it was okay, besides the fabrication helped her. Experience her do a set with a live video score and sessions of music accompanying an environment. Stuffed plushies (specially made by Nathan Freda) laying near her for comfort. Black hair masking her face as an unidentifiable singer. The sounds, the plushies, her back towards you , all becomes part of the small increments of movement to the music.
