What do you get when you mix true school ideals and influences with new school ideas and an original style? Mooke and Street Chemist, two emcees from Cleveland, better known to most as Smoke Screen. They released their first album, Self Educated Learning Process in late 2007 which consisted of 100% original material with no outside appearances or production. They were nominated in the 2008 Ohio Hip Hop Awards for Best New Group Of The Year. Late 2008 saw them team up with Kings Ransom Clothing to sponsor them for the release of their first mixtape Punch-Drunk Melodies. The mixtape was a collection of old, new and remixed material. Their newest release, Punch-Drunk Melodies Vol. 2, was just released Spring of 2009 and once again was sponsored by Kings Ransom Clothing. This was almost entirely all new material aside from two remixes. Since 2007 they have done countless shows all over the state of Ohio and parts of Michigan promoting their releases. They have opened up for the likes of People Under The Stairs, Wale, Colin Munroe, Flobots, Danny Brown, Critical Bill, Potluck, Kid Cudi, Kids In The Hall, Clipse and more. Currently working on their sophmore LP, they are perfecting their craft everyday and gaining new fans along the way.
