Renaissance

Renaissance

Renaissance has been played on NTS in shows including Moxie , featured first on 30 January 2013. Songs played include Song 4 Sydney.

There are multiple musical groups and projects using the name Renaissance:

Renaissance is a British progressive rock band originally formed in early 1968 by former members of The Yardbirds, including drummer Jim McCarty and guitarist/vocalist Keith Relf. The initial lineup also included keyboardist John Hawken, bassist Louis Cennamo, and vocalist Jane Relf. This early version of the band released two albums, "Renaissance" (1969) and "Illusion" (1971), before disbanding. Some members later formed the band Illusion.

McCarty reformed Renaissance with new members including singer Binky Cullom, bassist Jon Camp, keyboardist John Tout, drummer Terence Sullivan, and guitarist/composer Michael Dunford. Cullom was soon replaced by Annie Haslam, and McCarty left shortly afterward. This lineup became known as the classic Renaissance lineup, producing several successful albums starting with "Prologue" (1972). The band's style combined classical and classically inspired music with melodic rock. During the 1980s, Renaissance shifted towards shorter songs with more synthesizer use, leading to a decline in popularity. The band dissolved in the mid-1980s but has since reunited in various forms for performances and recordings.

Renaissance is also the name of a Mexican rock band.

There is a Japanese band named Renaissance.

Renaissance is the name of a Serbian ensemble focusing on medieval and renaissance music.

Renaissance is a metal band formed in November 1991 by Chriss Ons (guitar), with members Dirk Vollon (bass), Jürgen De Wispelare (drums), and Domingo Smets (guitar). The band sought to move away from thrash/death metal towards more harmonic and epic song structures. Their debut demo "Archway" appeared in 1992. They released split EPs in the early 1990s and a concept album titled "The Death Of Art" in 1994 through Shiver Records. The project was later renamed Rinascimento to avoid confusion with the British band. After several recordings and limited live activity, the project was largely inactive after 1998.

Renaissance is an acapella Christian gospel quartet formed in 1985 in Los Angeles, California. The members include Sharon Harris (soprano/first tenor), George Pendergrass (first/second tenor), Adam Thompson (baritone), and Ronald Walker (first/second tenor), all alumni of Southwestern Christian College in Texas. The group contributed to the acapella gospel music scene and its members have individual achievements in Christian music and related projects. George Pendergrass is noted for his work as lead singer of the group Acappella and collaborations with other well-known artists.

Renaissance is an all-female acapella group from the University of Maine, Orono.
