Amethyst Amelia Kelly (born 7 June 1990), known professionally as Iggy Azalea, is an Australian rapper and songwriter who retired from music in 2024. Born in Sydney, she moved to the United States at the age of 16 to pursue a career in music. She first gained public attention after releasing the music videos for "Pussy" and "Two Times" on YouTube. Shortly after, she released her debut mixtape "Ignorant Art" (2011) and signed a recording contract with American rapper T.I.’s Grand Hustle label.

Her debut studio album "The New Classic" (2014) reached the top five in several countries and peaked at number one on the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, making her the first non-American female rapper to achieve this. The album was preceded by the single "Work" and the commercially successful single "Fancy" (featuring Charli XCX), which reached number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 and received a Grammy Award nomination for Record of the Year. She also appeared on Ariana Grande’s 2014 single "Problem", which peaked at number two on the Hot 100 behind "Fancy". With these releases, Azalea became the second musical act after the Beatles to simultaneously hold the number one and number two positions on the Hot 100 with debut chart entries, and she also achieved three simultaneous top-ten entries with "Fancy", "Problem", and "Black Widow" (featuring Rita Ora).

After her debut album, Azalea released several singles intended for a second studio album titled "Digital Distortion", but the project was cancelled due to conflicts with her record label and other issues. She later signed with Island Records and released the EP "Survive the Summer" (2018). Following further disputes with labels, she became an independent artist and founded her own label, Bad Dreams, distributed through Empire. Her second studio album "In My Defense" was released in 2019, followed by the EP "Wicked Lips" the same year, and her third studio album "The End of an Era" in 2021.

Azalea is among the best-selling female rappers worldwide. Her awards include two American Music Awards, three Billboard Music Awards, an MTV Video Music Award, a People's Choice Award, and four Teen Choice Awards, along with four Grammy Award nominations. Her YouTube channel and collaborations have accumulated approximately 7 billion views, and 15 of her music videos have surpassed 100 million views on Vevo.
