She is a Japanese composer, arranger, keyboardist, and singer. In her second year of high school, she entered the annual Yamaha Popular Song Contest, but did not win. However, she got a part-time job at the Yamaha Music Foundation, where she was discovered. She subsequently played keyboards in several small bands until her debut as a composer in 1980.

In 1981, she formed a partnership with music producer Narumi Hiroshi called Tohoku Shinkansen. After the breakup, she dedicated herself to composing and arranging full-time.
