The Wascals

The Wascals

The Wascals has been played on NTS in shows including Ted Draws, featured first on 7 May 2019. Songs played include The Dips (O.G. Version) and Stole The Show.

The Wascals earned themselves the rep as a baby Pharcyde.

As part of the Fathouse Records' roster, their only album recorded between 1992 and 1993 was produced by J-Swift (who was responsible for the classic 'Bizzare Ride II The Pharcyde'). However, Delicious Vinyl Records, who Fathouse had an manufacturing and distribution deal with, only released a small handful of Wascals singles in the mid-90s, and shelved the remaining album until June of 2007, leaving the group in relative obscurity to mainstream Hip-Hop audiences. In addition to the label difficulties, producer/Fathouse owner J-Swift became addicted to crack and homeless (as documented in the documentary '1 More Hit'), leaving the crew without their signature beats.

Group member Bucwhead (aka Bucweed aka Buckwheat) went solo, first releasing singles such as Smoker's Emporium before finally emerging as Buc Fifty, releasing his Rethuglican album in the 00s.
