Spag Heddy, real name Mischa Reining, is a dutch born Barcelona based dubstep producer and DJ.
Reining was born into a musical family with various instruments at home. Particularly, one of his brothers had an acoustic drumkit in the attic which Reining would frequently play on daily.
It wasn’t until he was about 16 that I started getting interested in the electronic side of music. He wanted to compose/record his own songs using his dad’s Yamaha keyboard. FL Studio was already popular thanks to its complete free trial, so it was the first software he encountered and fell in love with. At the same time, Dutch Hip Hop/Rap was booming in the Netherlands, with names like Opgezwolle and Kubus being huge personal inspirations, so it was through Hip Hop that he learned the basics of FL Studio and got hooked on its workflow.
Up until he was about 21 years old, music production was not his main passion, it was film/motion graphics. However, this changed when he lived in Utrecht and Dubstep made its way over from the UK. When Reining tried at making that very new exciting music style, it gripped him entirely and made him go full producer mode.
His earliest productions was on Partyscratch. Kypski, the label owner, asked for an artist name as he didn’t think Reining's real name was cool enough. Reining and his friends were joking around the name "Spag Heddy" because he was always making pasta and noodles and cheap food. He thought it was funny so it stuck.
