Diana Ross (born March 26, 1944) is an American singer and actress. She was the lead singer of the vocal group the Supremes, who became one of Motown's most successful acts during the 1960s and one of the best-selling girl groups in history, achieving twelve number-one singles on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100.

After leaving the Supremes in 1970, Ross began a solo career with the release of her debut album, "Diana Ross". Between 1972 and 1980, she recorded four top ten albums, with "Diana" being her most successful studio release. Over fifteen years, Ross released twelve top ten singles, including six number-one hits on the Billboard Hot 100: "Ain't No Mountain High Enough", "Touch Me in the Morning", "Theme from Mahogany (Do You Know Where You're Going To)", "Love Hangover", "Upside Down", and "Endless Love". She also achieved international success with songs such as "I'm Coming Out", "Chain Reaction", "If We Hold on Together", and "When You Tell Me That You Love Me".

Ross has acted in films and television. Her first role was as Billie Holiday in the film "Lady Sings the Blues" (1972), for which she received a Golden Globe Award and an Academy Award nomination, becoming the first African-American actress nominated for an Academy Award for a debut film performance. The film's soundtrack reached number one on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart. She also starred in "Mahogany" (1975) and "The Wiz" (1978), and appeared in television films including "Out of Darkness" (1994), for which she received a Golden Globe nomination, and "Double Platinum" (1999).

Throughout her career, Ross has received multiple awards and honors. She was named "Female Entertainer of the Century" by Billboard in 1976. Since beginning her solo career, she has sold over 100 million records worldwide. Between 1964 and 1981, she sang on eighteen number-one U.S. singles. In 2021, Billboard ranked her as the 30th greatest charting artist on the Billboard Hot 100. Her combined work as a member of the Supremes and as a solo artist places her among the top five artists on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart from 1955 to 2018. She achieved a top 75 U.K. hit single for 33 consecutive years (1964–1996). In 1988, she was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of the Supremes. She has two stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and has received a Special Tony Award (1977), the Kennedy Center Honors (2007), the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award twice (2012 and 2023, the latter including her work with the Supremes), and the Presidential Medal of Freedom (2016).
