There are two bands called The Tweeds.
The Tweeds emerged out of the Main Line of Philadelphia’s suburbs and the campus of Penn State University. Coming together after line-up changes and band mergers The Tweeds create a sound akin to such greats as Ghosts and Vodka mixed with Pavement and Deerhunter. After only one year with the current line up, the band has been making strides to establish themselves along the east coast with upcoming tour plans and recording projects. Their noise-rock/post-hardcore/shoegaze style of playing sends the audience to the early ’90s, which is when some of the band members were only in diapers.
The TWEEDS (Massachusetts) (powerpop) The Tweeds were led by Marc McHugh, formerly of 60s band The Bone (with apparently a great song "Everybody's Gone Into April" cut on 7" in 1969). Discography EP 7" « Teen Love EP » (USA [Autobahn #TDS-A-12] 1977) EP 7" « Underwater Girl » (USA [Autobahn #TDS-A-21] 1978) EP 12" « Perfect Fit » (USA [Autobahn #TDS-1230] 09/1980) EP 12" « Music for car radios » (USA [Eat Records #Eatum EP005] 1981)

Interestingly, Kenny G (then known as Kenny Gorelick) was the group's piano player for a time; he later had an internationally famous career as a smooth jazz artist.
