Thomas Greene

Thomas Greene

Thomas Greene has been played on NTS in shows including Tafelmusik w/ Francesco Fusaro, featured first on 16 December 2019. Songs played include Peer Gynt.

Thomas Greene delivers a fresh, distinctive sound to the world of electronica. Combining years of live drumming experience with 21st century music technology, his music breathes and pulses with an organic energy. Playing the bass, keyboard, and guitar, Thomas injects his music with a real-time, live-band feel.

Thomas' new release from Stereotype Records, Sabi , is the departure point for his compositional travels. Tight and concise, the EP flows with a melancholy demeanor, book-ended by an electro-acoustic groove and an epic mechanical odyssey. Equal parts laptop vernacular and Blade Runner -esque soundscapes, Thomas' new work emits both emotion and intellect.

A self-taught musician until age 21, Thomas began studying composition, performance, and early electronic music history at Ohio University at Athens. After school, he moved to San Francisco where he became heavily involved in the local music scene, playing drums for a diverse range of songwriters and bands. These included local indie-rock favorites Buddhakowski and songwriters Forest Sun and Zachary Ross. He also formed Plum, his electronica/jazz trio. It was during this time that he resumed his composing, both personally and commercially. He has since cultivated a thriving applied music career in film, TV, and advertising in addition to his personal music pursuits. Perpetually moving forward, Thomas continues to expand his musical vocabulary. Looking to the future, he prepares to release additional recordings ranging from electronic dialogues to guitar-driven tales and electro-acoustic symphonic scores. There is indeed much more music to come from this emerging voice of the 21st century music scene.
