Pascals (パスカルズ) is a 15 member Japanese band who play a range of instruments from violins and harmonicas to ukeleles and toy pianos. Pascals is a mini orchestra led by Rocket Matsu on accordian and pianica. The Pascals, whose name's inspired by Catalan-French musician and composer Pascal Comelade, repetoire includes Henry Mancini's Moon River and Jonathan Richman's Egyptian Reggae. Brian Eno is a heavy inspiration with past Pascals albums including readings of Eno compositions By This River and Taking Tiger Mountain. The Pascals sound refuses to be pigeon holed - jazz, improvisation, rock, waltzes, polkas, meandering instrumentals. Wonderfully entertaining in a live performance.
