This month’s show features the legendary Senegalese band Lemzo Diamono, focusing mostly on two of their early albums: “Jom” from 1992, also known as Volume One, and Masla Bi from Lead by instrumentalists Lamine and Tapha Faye, the mbalax band featured such great singers (and previous features of this show) as Alioune Mbaye Nder, Mada Ba, Fallou Dieng, and great percussionists Moussa Traoré, Mahanta Faye, Alioune Faye and more. Closing this show is the latest from Ndakhté Lo: Malaise.

Tim Daisy · drums, marimba, composition. b. July 15 1976, Waukegan IL Tim has been an active member of Chicago's creative music scene since moving there in 1997. He has performed, composed, recorded, and toured with many of the city's celebrated musicians and ensembles. Along with performing sideman duties in internationally acclaimed bands including the Vandermark 5, The Rempis Percussion Quartet, and The Engines, Tim maintains an active composing schedule, writing for his own groups as well as contributing to a number of collaborative ensembles. Tim currently leads four of his own groups: Vox Arcana, with Fred Lonberg-Holm on cello and James Falzone on clarinet; New Fracture Quartet, with Jaimie Branch on trumpet, Dave Miller on guitar and pedals, and Nate McBride on bass; The Tim Daisy Ensemble, with Erica Dicker on violin, Daniel Levin on cello, and Jeff Kimmel on bass clarinet; Falling Sky Quartet, with Tim Haldeman on tenor saxophone, Dave Miller on guitar, and Jake Vinsel on bass. As a sideman, Tim currently performs with: The Vandermark 5, The Rempis Percussion Quartet, The Engines, Klang, Dragons 1976, Arrive, The Frame Quartet, The Dan Effland Group, Kyle Bruckman's Wrack, and the Steve Evans Quartet.
