Frenzied Anamnesis w/ Sybil Jay

This collection is one-part youthful revelation, one-part curated memories, and a hint of wishes for what could have been. It pays homage to my hometown outside Houston, Texas. These songs ignited my teenage curiosity, largely through the Genetic Memory Show on Rice University's radio station, KTRU. It’s thanks to family, friends, and Bonnie McNairn, who hosted the show which became Genetic Memory that I learned of this music. One track in the mix is from her project, Voice of Eye, now one of my favorite bands. Another group on the list, ESOTERICA LANDSCAPES 7, is famous in the Houston underground and shares a member with the original VoE lineup. So much of the mind melting music I heard as a teen originated with the more experimental punk-adjacent sounds of the time. Overall, this mix is a collision of 80s punk, post-punk, psychedelia, experimental chaos, and late 90s to early 2000s art rock. These are the sounds that directly informed my musical awakening and still influence my penchant for sonic exploration.
