I was a teenager in Aotearoa New Zealand in the late 90s - this mix comes mostly from CDs around that time and place. The Big Day Out and the Gathering festivals seemed the best chance to expose your ears to new sounds and live music then, and after Roni Size toured it was like our future musical taste-buds had been permanently altered (well to me and my pals anyway) This is the soundtrack to touch rugby on the beach, attempting to pop a manu off the local wharf, and crushing omnipresent social awkwardness.
