HEARING VOICES W/ SANDRO MARAVILLAS
“El Bailable”, that Latin American institution. Glorious deed of New Year’s Eve, expressive national celebration and infamous baptisms. Bursting with mischief lyrics, "letras picaronas", it’s a joy in and of itself, like a juicy ceviche. “Yet another year gone? Who cares” sang Tommy Rey, indifferent to the feeling of getting older. From my early memories of flawed adults having massive fun in Chile, to contemporary iterations of the big styles, these songs are a celebratory journey across the diversity of Latin-American rhythms.
