Sounds of stillness and peace from the Japanese "kankyō ongaku" movement - environmental and ambient recordings, produced as a reaction to the growing hyper-commercialisation and urbanisation of 1980s Japan.
Through continual splits, reformations, and shedding key band members, the brain child of Roxy Music was always Bryan Ferry. Imbuing the project with an art-school sensibility, Ferry's lyrics were arch, world weary and romantic, and the music was glamorous and lush at a time when UK rock music was often bloated and terribly unhip.
