DOG STAR MAN W/ ANDREA MARIN
This mix is a musical interpretation of Stan Brakhage’s movie « Dog Star Man » (1964). It is performed with digital decks and vinyl turntable. As a living form of abstraction, the movie seems to illustrate reminiscent symbols, visions a man could experienced. These visions that are similar to day/night dreaming are visually expressed with layers of scratched and paint films. I chose to link this pioneering visual work with a selection of concrete and acoustic musical artists from the 60’s/70’s and contemporary periods, that are experimenting abstraction in their own sound domain. The set is going through rawness and sweetness, through nightmares and dreams.
