Rio Doce: Arlindo Cruz Special

August’s Rio Doce pays tribute to the samba singer, composer, and legend Arlindo Cruz, who passed away last week. Arlindo was — and will always be — one of the greatest voices in Brazilian samba. He deeply influenced my journey and was the one who took me to my very first samba gatherings. This August will forever be remembered for his voice and his compositions. With all our love, from Rio Doce.

"Rolas" roughly translates from Mexican slang to "banger". Taking inspiration from Abe Pedroza's parent's record collection, Rolas explores tonally unique music from the Spanish speaking world. Mostly selected from the 60s and 70s.
