Focus on David Munrow

The musician and early music historian David Munrow was only 33 years old when he passed away. Yet his legacy befits a man more than twice his age. A staggeringly prolific musician and educator, Munrow travelled the world soaking up the music of different cultures. He learned new musical systems and obscure instruments in the span days or weeks.

He is most famous as the figurehead of the Early Music movement, performing and teaching music from the early Medieval period onward. His BBC radio show "Pied Piper" - was a centuries spanning, 600+ episode education in the history of music – from Monteverdi to Pentangle.

As well as his radio and television work, Munrow also released well over 50 albums in his short lifetime, a body of work which has since altered our perception of music history.
