In Focus: Dip In The Pool

Formed in the mid 1980s, dip in the pool's vocalist Miyako Koda and producer Tatsuji Kimura created a whole that was greater than the sum of its parts. Kimura's sparse, delicate production - a motif of 1980s Japanese pop that resonates still - and Koda's breathy vocal performances fused in pop songs that fall on the listener like a fine mist. A rarity among Japanese artists, dip in the pool were signed by a western label, Rough Trade. Over the course of their two decade career, they released eight albums.
