In Focus: Kourosh Yaghmaei
In the mid 1970s, guitarist Kourosh Taghmaei was the king of Iranian rock music - his records sold in the millions and he was internationally famous among the Iranian diaspora. But in 1979, following the Iranian revolution, his music was heavily censored and banned on the radio by the fundamentalist Iranian regime for it's psychedelic style, a sound considered too "western". Kourosh Yaghmaei's music could have been lost forever to wider audiences, but a relaxing in rules in the 1990s allowed Yaghmaei's music to be released once again.
