Focus on Cabaret Voltaire, Richard H. Kirk
The progenitor of what became known as industrial music, Richard Harold Kirk was a founding member of Sheffield group Cabaret Voltaire, whose forays into DIY electronics and tape experimentation birthed a genre. With a career that extended well beyond 'the Cabs', Richard first started releasing music as a solo artist in the early '80s and '90s, with countless techno and club releases penned by him under a myriad of esoteric pseudonyms.
This In Focus pays tribute to Richard H Kirk: a tireless innovator in experimental electronic music, who sadly passed away in September 2021.
