Luis Alvarado: CHILE SINTÉTICA (1983-1993)

This mixtape compiles works of electronic and synthesizer music produced in Chile during a period defined by dictatorship and the transition to democracy. In a context of censorship and technological limitations, artists such as Eduardo Valenzuela and José Ignacio Valdez developed individual approaches to sequential electronic music. Meanwhile, towards the end of the decade, Litta Goijberg and Joakin Bello leaned towards new age, engaging in prolific self-releases of cassettes. Simultaneously, experimental groups like Malalche and Agrupación Ciudadanos articulated musical responses to social reality. In turn, Arquitectos de Ruidos and Minimal Technology incorporated new forms of synthesis, paving the way for industrial sound.
