"We inaugurated the Made To Measure series back in 1984, in order to try and instill some order in the wild diversity of Crammed Discs’ output, by regrouping our ambient/neo-chamber/experimental releases in a single collection. As with all of the label’s endeavours, diversity immediately started bubbling and flourishing inside the series… which is just as well!… After a flamboyant first decade, we went on to explore other musical areas. Made To Measure was left aside and became a sort of sleeping treasure. But the time is now ripe for a rebirth, with new releases and remastered reissues. I’m delighted to see MTM take over NTS for a few hours, with mixes by artists who released albums in the series (Yasuaki Shimizu, Stubbleman), by an MTM connoisseur (RVNG label boss Matt Werth), by great contemporary artists who will shortly collaborate with the series (Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith, Christine Vantzou & JAB). My own mix is a kind of sound sculpture which blends fragments from 48 different tracks from the MTM catalogue, as well as work-in-progress excerpts from the upcoming album by my Aksak Maboul project, which will come out on Made To Measure in 2022."
