Otaku: Katsuhiro Otomo
Katsuhiro Otomo is a defining figure in modern Japanese animation and manga. Best known as the creator of Akira, he helped popularise the cyberpunk aesthetic and influence a global wave across film, science fiction and music. This episode of Otaku traces the sonic worlds around Otomo’s films, with selections from the Akira score alongside music from Robot Carnival and Memories: atmospheric synths, ritualistic chants and an uncanny near-future soundscape.
