The late '50s and '60s saw a booming demand for American jazz across the continent as listeners hungered for improvised, individualistic, and anti-authoritarian cultures epitomised by jazz, and introduced to the masses by America's lasting post-war military and political presence in the aftermath of the war. Often treated with more reverence in modernist Europe than at home, this mix explores some of the high quality recordings of jazz legends not included on the original compilation, featuring Miles Davis, Charles Mingus, Bill Evans and more.
