Before Hardcore codified Punk music, it had mutated into countless forms across the world. The USA was ground zero as tons of bands and scenes interpreted rock and roll to its weird, DIY roots. Most of the bands emerging from this period (1977-1981) barely existed outside of local scenes but in the late 1980s, a series of bootleg compilations made by record collectors brought this music to the attention of music nerds everywhere. Collectively known as Killed By Death (KBD), this “genre” of punk music came to represent early punk at its most obscure, weird, queer, inept, and brilliant. This is an all vinyl, all originals mix of KBD punk 45s from the United States.
