1.The Daltons, formerly known as Full Time Innovators Part Time Players, is a hip-hop group from the Netherlands consisting of Erik van Bemmelen and Laurens Beijer. Laurens has a background in music and Erik has an enormous amount of hip-hop knowledge, ready to amaze you at every moment. This combination is one of the reasons that makes their music irresistible. The group started in 2013 to make music together, after they hadn't seen each other for years. Their first single 'Stofmeid' was received very well among their friends and acquaintances. With their second single 'Vrije Voeten' they are really showing the world what they are capable of.
2.According to the Encyclopaedia of Dutch Popmusic 1960-1990 (spn): "Nervous pigs and the Daltons were rotten apples in the Arnhem punkscene". I was a founding member and drummer in these two bands and when I read this piece of journalism it made me laugh (I was a punk before you were a junk).
In the early eighties I played in the Nurfus Pigs (a.k.a. Hirozima kitz) when this band stopped I was asked by guitarist Rob (ex-Unemployed) to start a new punkband. We asked Jeroen (ex-Nurfus Pigs) on bass. Jeroen took guitarist and vocalist Berry (www.thesmears.com) along with him, they knew each other from the band Splatch. We called ourselves FANG, our first demo was recorded in 1983 at the Jacobiberg Studio's on a 8-track by Leen Barbier (Speedtwins/Turbo) and Eddie Fitzkin.I left the band in 1984 - had some regrets - and returned in 1985.
This time we wanted to record an album, changed our name into the Daltons, wrote some extra songs, lend a big Cadillac from some crook and went to Venlo.I think it was one of the first times punks arrived at squats and lowbudget studio's in fancy cars-it was hilarious. We recorded the album with Matt Aerts at his studio on a 8-track (which now is the Klankstudio in Tegelen).Drove back to Arnhem and waited for the tapes. Now here it gets a bit of a mistery,we got some copies listened to it and somehow it didn't sound right (was it the booze or was it the deck?). Someone said : "we won't bring this out ".At that time I was dissapointed in my personal life and when I heard the news I just walked off.The guys continued succesfully with several line ups until 1988.
In 1992 I saw Rob again and we started jamming along with Jeroen - now the Harries - and we decided to bring out a lp (www.fonos.nl) by the name of Killcityrebel (bonustrack "the last song"). I thought it was a good idea to record it at Matt's studio again and so we did. When we arrived there Matt showed us the original Daltons studio tape and he spoke the famous words "this tape has been waiting here for seven years, you are the first band which payed this studio but never came back to get the tape".We were stunned, listened to the tape and it sounded as punk as punk can get.
Almost 20 years later I listen to the tapes again and I'm impressed and suprised by the untamed rawness and I think to myself - some of this must come out on cd finally .It's a dedication to a time area in our lives. It's rotten,it's loud 'n' it makes me feel proud.
