Toshiki Ohta is a co-host on NTS’s Sacred Pools show alongside DJ October and Faso. Tosh is known for mixing between textures, genres, tempos and styles, underground and overground, with a love for pitched down jungle, pitched up breakbeat rave, EBM, dark balearic, ethereal bangers and acid rollers.

Tanya Auclair

Tanya Auclair

Tanya Auclair has been played on NTS in shows including The Opera Show, featured first on 27 April 2013. Songs played include Jupiter + Venus, Mersea Mersea Me and Fluke.

Hailing from west London, via Canada and Rwanda – Tanya Auclair's musical upbringing straddled very different worlds. Citing influences as wide-ranging as Bongo Joe Coleman, Juana Molina, The Staple Singers, Laurie Anderson, Matthew Herbert and E.S.G, her open instinctive approach shows in the territory she covers in a beguiling mix of playful DIY drums, layers of voice, intricate melodies and touches of electronica.

Armed with just a digital recorder, FruityLoops and some instruments she wrote and produced her debut solo release, EP ‘Thrum’, which came out to rave reviews by blogs internationally and has had fervent support from Resonance FM, BBC 6Music’s Tom Robinson, ?uestlove’s Okay Africa, Eska and 4Hero’s Marc Mac. “A road-trip round Sweden set this fever off in me. Initially it was an experiment, taking some of my favourite things about music - primal rhythms, loads of vocal harmonies and straight-up melodies – and it turned into its own little beast, making me dig deeper, to where everything thrums.”

Early vocal-body percussion work with jazz pioneer Leon Parker and an excitement for music made from ‘minimal means’ gave rise to her disinctive sound and compelling one-woman-band show. She builds her songs live on stage, sampling her voice with a loop pedal, playing ukulele, guitar and percussion.

The multi-instrumentalist has worked with the likes of Matthew Herbert’s Big Band Ensemble, Andreya Triana, Laura J Martin and Aristazabel Hawkes. Recent collaboration with electronic producer Yult (aka Tomatom the French) saw first single ‘Inland Empire’ from The Animal Inside EP quickly become an internet sensation and their work has garnered praise from Daedalus (Brainfeeder, Warp, Ninja Tune) and Eric Lau (Ubiquity, Kilawatt).

Tanya is currently recording her next solo EP, set for release in 13 June 2011
