Helene

Helene

Helene has been played on NTS shows including Radio Jiro, with Music For Us first played on 25 July 2016.

Born out of the ashes of cult band Barefoot Contessa, Helene bring a new lithe and lissom sound to their new album 'Routines'. Helene's acute lyrical insights; purring organ swirls, sensual slide guitars, Byrdsian jangles, and a dreamy production sheen courtesy of ex-Cocteau Twins Bella Union head honcho Simon Raymonde, who calls Helene the 'greatest lyricist in Britain right now'.

With a voice which calls to mind Nancy Sinatra without the trust fund – slightly careworn but gorgeously expressive – Helene seems to be able to dive effortlessly into areas of humanity which the rest of us are either too scared or too sensible to approach.

Not to be confused with Hélène Rollès.
